How to Make Healthy Pizza

Load your pizza up with lots of healthy vegetables instead of meat toppings and you will discover that healthy tastes great, too. Our favorite healthy pizza features roasted garlic, red pepper flakes, plenty of broccoli rape, and a balanced amount of Parmigiano Reggiano®, the only Parmesan we use, and some part-skim mozzarella.

STEP 1—Make your own Easy Pizza Dough or buy your favorite brand.

 

STEP 2—Stretch the dough on a well-floured surface.

STEP 3—Place dough on a pizza peel and drizzle with extra-virgin olive oil.

STEP 4—Sprinkle the dough with shredded mozzarella.

STEP 5--Cover the surface with blanched broccoli rape that has been squeezed dry and roughly chopped.

STEP 6 –Cook several cloves of crushed garlic just until fragrant. Stir in a big pinch of hot pepper flakes. Drizzle over broccoli rape.

STEP 7—Top with a good sprinkling of grated Parmigiano Reggiano cheese.

STEP 8—Bake 10 to 12 minutes on a pizza stone, in a preheated 500° F oven.

STEP 9—Garnish with shavings of Parmigiano Reggiano, cut, and devour this healthy pizza!
